Teaser of Bhansali’s Netflix series ‘Heeramandi’ surprises fans
It is a web series about love, betrayal, succession, and politics in the kothas which promises Bhansali's trademark larger-than-life sets, multi-faceted characters and soulful compositions.
Mumbai: The first look of Bhansali’s series, “Heeramandi” came out on Netflix on February 18 based on Lahore’s red light area stunned everyone.
The teaser said, “Sanjay Leela Bhansali welcomes you to the world where courtesans were the queens.”

The star caste of ‘Heeramandi’ comprises of stars like Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Ali and Sharmin Segal in leading roles.
The web series is all about courtesans and the hidden cultural realities of Heeramandi, a red-light area, during the pre-independent India. It is a series about love, betrayal, succession, and politics in the kothas which promises Bhansali's trademark larger-than-life sets, multi-faceted characters and soulful compositions.
Sanjay earlier announced it in 2021.
Bhansali said, "Heeramandi is an important milestone in my journey as a filmmaker. This is an epic, first-of-its-kind series based on the courtesans of Lahore. It is an ambitious, grand and all-encompassing series; therefore I am nervous yet excited about making it. I am looking forward to my partnership with Netflix and bringing Heeramandi to audiences all over the world.”
Bhansali created his own world in his projects. He is considered to be the pioneer of making classical, sophisticated and everlasting projects.
Devdaas, Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani and Gangubai Kathiawadi are the big projects on his credit. His work is admired at the international level.
