Fawad Chaudhary said, “Pervaiz Elahi will be the President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf,”.
Pervaiz Elahi also addressed the press conference and said that he was firmly standing by Imran Khan.
“I will continue to work for the betterment of the country,” said the former Punjab CM.
PTI Chief Imran Khan had earlier offered Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) to merge with PTI.
Earlier in the day, PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain terminated the party membership of Pervaiz Elahi. He took this decision after Elahi and ten other members of the party announced merger with the PTI.
Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain had issued a show-cause notice on January 16. Elahi had also been served a notice for summoning a session in Lahore on January 26.
