Islamabad: The Council of Common Interests (CCI) has approved the release of census-2017 results.

A meeting of the Council of Common Interests was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan in which the Chief Ministers of the provinces participated through video link.

The Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments supported the resolution to release the census results, while Sindh opposed and expressed reservations.
Sindh also suggested linking the census results to the new (next) census while Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also wrote a dissenting note on the census results.
Whereas the Balochistan chief minister sought time to consult on the matter with the cabinet members.
The meeting was reconvened today April 12 due to disagreement over the release of census results in the previous meeting.
