Dunhuang: Officials in northern China have inaugurated world’s first traffic signals for camels at the Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring in Dunhuang City.

According to a local media report, the signal came into operation on Sunday and the main objective of this move is to prevent camel collisions at Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring.
Following the basic traffic rules, the signal will turn green to allow the animals specially camels to cross the way while they will stop when the light turns red.
Reportedly, Dunhuang City and Crescent Spring are areas that are extremely popular regarding tourists and camel-riding tours are a big attraction for visitors to the area.
It is being believed that by establishing the new traffic signals visitors will now be safe from camel collisions.
Mingsha Mountain is also called the Singing Sand Dunes because the sands give out a singing or drumming sound when the wind blows.
In recent years, tourism to the area has grown and are the westernmost gates of the Great Wall.
