Rangers arrest Imran Khan in Islamabad
Imran had come Islamabad for hearing in different cases.
Islamabad: Rangers Tuesday arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan in Al-Qadir Trust case outside Islamabad High Court (IHC), GNN reported.
According to details, he was arrested while doing biometric verification and rangers took him away in armored car.
Sheikh Rasheed said that Khan was doubtful that he would may get arrested today.
Chief Justice Aamer Farooq of IHC has summoned Attorney General of Pakistan (IGP) Mansoor Awan Usman and IG Islamabad in 15 minutes to record their statement that why have they arrested former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
“If they would not appear in 15 minutes, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will be summoned to appear,” he added.
IHC has summoned interior secretary for arresting Imran from the premises of court.
According to sources, he had been presented with arrest warrant at the time of arrest and has been handed over to National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Khan has been accused of corruption under Section 9A of NAB Ordinance 1990, sources told. He has been arrested under Article 34(A), 18(E) and 24(A) of NAB Ordinance.
It is stated that warrantto arrest Imran were issued on May 1, however he had been arrested eight days later.
Imran's laweyers stated that he had been injured during the arrest as some chemical was sprayed by rangers officials that caused irritation in their eyes. His security squad was also injured by rangers.
