Riyadh: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia and Canada have announced the restoration of their diplomatic relations, ending the dispute of 2018 over human rights.

The statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that after the talks between Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, diplomatic relations are being restored by the two countries.

The statement added that relations between the two countries are being restored from where they were severed.

Canadian officials say that in a meeting between Justin Trudeau and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the sidelines of the Asia Pacific Economic Co-Operation (APEC) in Bangkok, it was decided to restore diplomatic relations. Trade restrictions on Arab countries will also be lifted.

They added that in recent years, Saudi Arabia has emerged as an important global player, Saudi Arabia helped us in the evacuation of Canadians stuck in Sudan and it is also playing an important role in finding solutions to the Sudan problem.

The Canadian foreign minister stated: “It is not always necessary to agree with each other to find solutions to international issues and problems, we need to increase dialogue with people”.
