Kashmir: Polling process Thursday started for by-election in LA-15 Bagh-II of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly, which will continue till 5:00pm uninterrupted.
According to details, the position was vacant as a result of the disqualification of former Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas. Now a tough competition is expected between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
A total of 18 candidates are participating in the by-election, 22 polling stations in the constituency have been declared as the most sensitive.
Notable, Tanveer Ilyas was disqualified from office by Azad Kashmir High Court in April this year in the case of contempt of court.
Court ordered the Election Commission to immediately terminate Sardar Tanveer's assembly membership and issue a disqualification notification.
The full court, headed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Sadaqat Hussain Raja, delivered a verdict on the anti-judiciary speeches of Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Tanveer Ilyas and sentenced him to disqualification.
