Meta to launch Twitter competitor
Instagram’s parent company Meta plans to launch Twitter’s competitor.

California: Instagram parent company Meta is prepared to launch a new standalone app.
Meta's Chief Product Officer, Chris Cox, revealed the app, which will integrate with ActivityPub—the decentralized protocol behind Mastodon.
Unveiled as "Project 92" during an internal company meeting, the app will leverage Instagram's infrastructure to populate user information seamlessly.
Development began in January, and Meta aims to launch the app, possibly named "Threads," at the earliest opportunity.
According to Cox, Project 92 emerged from discussions with public figures seeking a "sanely run" platform.
Some influential individuals have already committed to using the app.
With Twitter experiencing ups and downs, including layoffs, data breaches, and evolving features since Musk's takeover, Meta's focus is on providing a stable and trustworthy service for safety, and reliability.
