Karachi's district administration imposes micro-smart lockdown in virus hotspots
Karachi: The coastal city’s district administration has issued a notification to implement micro-smart lockdowns in different areas of three sub-divisions of Keemari district for two weeks amid a surge in virus cases across the city.

The micro-smart lockdown will be effective from April 21 to May 04.
According to an official notification, the step has been taken because of the rising number of cases being reported in these hotspots.
Following the notification, the smart lockdown has been enforced at Keemari’s Jungle Shah Colony, Qasba Colony and Islam Nagar for two weeks.
Moreover, the authorities have also directed all persons entering and leaving the affected areas to mandatorily wear masks.
Unnecessary movement of people in the virus hotspots along with pillion riding will be banned as well.
Earlier on Sunday, following the reports of persistent spike in the number of Covid-19 deaths the Punjab government imposed smart lockdown in 10 areas of Rawalpindi, Gujar Khan and Texla.
Moreover, Kashmir House opposite Mandira, Kamal Abadgali and Tench Bhatta were also put under smart lockdown as they were identified as virus hotspots.
The entry and exit points of those areas have been sealed with immediate effect till April 27.
As per notification, all markets, shopping malls, restaurants, offices will remain closed in these areas and there will be a complete ban on transport whether public or private. However, an exception has been made on transport of people by granting limited movement of one person per vehicle to and from the exempted facilities.
