Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has demanded the arrest of Prime Minister Imran Khan, blaming him and his cabinet for the sugar crisis.

While speaking to media outside accountability court in Islamabad, the former premier said that people of the country are forced to stand in lines to get sugar.
“Accountability and justice demands that all responsible ministers should be called by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and cases should be registered against them for creating sugar crisis in the country,” he said.
Criticizing the policies of ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), Khaqan Abbasi said that Pakistan is the only country where people are purchasing vaccine from their own money.
“In is unfortunate that where world has controlled the spread of coronavirus, the number of infections are increasing in Pakistan with each passing day. In my opinion they should shut down National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) as it is completely useless. Time is near when people of Pakistan will be banned from travelling abroad,” he said.
The PML-N leader further stated that the anti-corruption watchdog is only made for opposition parties.
“Shahbaz Sharif has served jail without any proofs against him. NAB is being used to take political revenge,” he added.
He further refused to apologize from National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser for exchange of harsh words in parliament.
Earlier, a letter had been issued to PML-N leader over verbal spat with Speaker of National Assembly Asad Qaiser.
The letter stated that the speaker had taken serious note of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s misbehavior and is of the view that he disregarded the authority of speaker.
“Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is required to tender apology and explain his position within seven days of receipt of the letter and if reply is not received within such time, it will be presumed that the PML-N leader has no explanation to offer,” the letter read.
