Hong Kong: In an unfortunate incident, eleven individuals sustained injuries during an aborted takeoff of Cathay Pacific's flight CX880 at Hong Kong International Airport early on Saturday.

The airline confirmed the incident, citing a technical issue as the cause for the aborted takeoff.

Cathay Pacific flight, en route from Hong Kong to Los Angeles, carried a total of 17 crew members and 293 passengers. Following the detection of the technical problem by the crew, the aircraft performed a standard procedure of aborted takeoff.

The injuries occurred during a precautionary evacuation conducted at the gate, wherein passengers utilized five door-escape slides to exit the aircraft, according to Cathay Pacific.

Out of the eleven passengers who received medical treatment, nine have already been discharged from the hospitals. Cathay Pacific assured that their staff would continue to offer support to the two hospitalized passengers and their families.

The airline expressed its sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused to its customers and expressed its commitment to resolving the situation.

According to local public broadcaster RTHK, police reported that one of the plane's tires overheated, leading to a burst.
