Islamabad: Pakistan has reported 144 deaths and 5,870 new cases of coronavirus in one day as the third wave of the pandemic continued to rage across the country.

According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 5,870 cases of coronavirus were reported while 144 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 16,842.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 784,108.
As many as 682,290 patients have recovered from the disease with 4,652 critical cases.
Punjab
The number of patients swelled to 282,469 in the province with 7,799 causalities.
Sindh
The number of infections has surged to 275,815 in the province, while the death toll has reached 4,576.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The confirmed cases have surged to 110,875 in the province with 2,029 casualties.
Balochistan
There are 21,365 confirmed cases while 227 patients have died from the infection so far.
AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan
There are 16,193 coronavirus cases in the AJK while the death toll has reached 455. On the other hand, there are 5,241 cases in GB with 104 coronavirus deaths.
Islamabad
There are 72,150 cases in the capital city while 652 people have lost their lives.
