Police stated that the accident occurred after the bus hit a pole on the expressway.


Maharashtra: In an unfortunate incident, a bus full of passengers caught fire resultantly 26 people including children were killed, while several passengers were injured on the highway in Indian state of Maharashtra.
According to Indian media, as a result of fire 26 people including three children were burnt to death, while eight people were injured.
Media reports told that police said: “The incident took place late at night when there were 33 people in the bus which was going to Pune to pick up passengers”.
On the other hand, giving the details of the incident, police stated that the accident occurred after the bus hit a pole on the expressway, causing the bus to overturn and catch fire.
After the bus overturned, the door of the bus was closed due to which the passengers could not get out and a large number of people died, however the driver of the bus luckily survived, police added.
Police told that as soon as the incident was reported, the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital, while a case has been registered and the investigation is underway.
