The iconic British-born actress and singer Jane Birkin passed away in Paris.


Paris: British-born actress and singer who captured the heart of France, has died at the age of 76 in her Paris residence.
The news of her death has left the country mourning the loss of a timeless Francophone icon, as announced by the French Culture Ministry.
Reports from local media indicate that Birkin was discovered deceased at her home.
Earlier this year, she had experienced a mild stroke following previous battles with heart issues.
Birkin's unique talent and captivating persona made her a cherished figure in both the music and film industry.
Internationally recognized for her 1969 hit "Je t'aime... moi non plus," a provocative duet with her former partner, the late French singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg, Birkin found immense success beyond her home country.
However, it was in France that she truly found her home, having resided there since the late 1960s.
Born Jane Mallory Birkin in London in December 1946, she embarked on her artistic journey at a young age, making her stage debut at 17.
