PTI chief could be jailed for 14 years if proven guilty in cypher case, says Tarar
The federal law minister says the FIA is investigating the matter of “cypher conspiracy” and the case against Imran Khan will be heard by a special court.

Islamabad: Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar said that former Prime Minister Imran Khan damaged the secret act as the cypher, its content and the country which sent it to Pakistan.
“Classified information cannot be made public,” said Azam Nazir Tarar while talking to the media in Islamabad on Thursday.
The law minister said that Imran Khan did not come up with the clear answer in this matter as he tried to save himself in a stay order.
He stated that the case related to cypher conspiracy would be properly investigated by the FIA and would be heard by a special court. He made it clear that if he [Imran Khan] tried to use the cypher for his vested interests and he could go under 14 years of jail if it was proven.
The conspiracy of cypher, he claimed, caused damage to Pakistan’s foreign relations.
He stated that the matter of cypher conspiracy was under investigation and it was now with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) which could either be against Imran Khan or could be benefit, adding that the matter was an open and shut case and there would be conviction. The FIA, he said, could turn this inquiry into an investigation.
“Imran Khan took the cypher in his custody and used it in the public gathering,” said the law minister. The statement of Azam Khan, the ex-Principal Secretary to ex-PM, was an evidence that Imran Khan used cypher for the vested interests.
Imran Khan, he said, also committed violation of the law by waving it in the public gathering.
He justified military trials saying that such trials had been taking place for last five decades and there was a right to appeal in the military trials.
