Petroleum dealers to go on nationwide strike on July 25
The government currently gives the dealers a commission of 2.4 percent per liter.
Karachi: The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) on Thursday announced a nationwide strike, starting from July 22.
The association has requested that the government to raise the distributors' commission, according to the official statement made by PPDA Chairman Abdul Sami Khan.
The notice further states that the association sent a letter to the minister of petroleum, Musadik Malik, to raise this and other concerns. The association's complaints, however, never received a response from the minister.
The government currently gives the dealers a commission of 2.4 percent per liter.
According to the association, the strike won't end until the petroleum ministry takes meaningful action to address the problem.
In an earlier letter to the federal government's Oil Companies Advisory Committee (OCAC), the oil marketing companies (OMCs) demanded that the price of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) be set at Rs. 12 per litre.
