Islamabad: The Punjab Home Department has stated on friday that mobile services will continue to be blocked on Ashura.
In addition to deputing army and rangers in the 13 districts of Punjab that have been considered sensitive during Muharram-ul-Haram.
The military will be deputed in these sensitive districts that include Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Multan, Sahiwal, Chakwal, Rajanpur, Gujrat, Jhang, Bhakkar, Layyah, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan.
Cellular services will remain suspended in mentioned districts on the 9th and 10th of Muharram.
The Punjab Home Department and the federal government have communicated regarding the deployment of 73 army and 80 ranger companies.
Furthermore, in the sensitive areas, District Control Rooms have been built that will interface to the Provincial Intelligence Joint Center.
Earlier, the Interior Ministry announced that the army would be deployed countrywide during the first 10 days of Muharram on Thursday.
Regarding this decision, the ministry sent a letter to the governments of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and the four provinces.
Following an application from the provinces, Article 245 has authorized the deployment.
The security of all processions and gatherings during Muharram will be up to the Pakistan Army, the police, and other law enforcement agencies.
