Barbie proves to be winner at box office
Barbie manages to rake in an impressive $68 million to $70 million at the box office and is projected to achieve a remarkable $150 million at 4,243 theaters for its weekend earnings.

London: The clash of the Barbienheimer weekend, with Greta Gerwig's Barbie and Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer hitting theaters globally on July 21, has shown Barbie taking the lead.
Despite the stark contrast in their target audiences and content, Barbie's live-action adaptation, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, is proving to be the winner at the box office.
Barbie revolves around the beloved Mattel doll's adventures as she finds her way from Barbie Land into the real world. On its opening day, Barbie managed to rake in an impressive $68 million to $70 million at the box office and is projected to achieve a remarkable $150 million at 4,243 theaters for its weekend earnings. Some estimates even place Barbie's weekend earnings higher, around $165 million to $170 million.
On the other hand, Oppenheimer, a film about American theoretical physicist J.R. Oppenheimer and the development of the atomic bomb, earned a respectable $32 million on its opening day and is expected to reach a three-day total of $75 million at 3,610 theaters.
When it comes to previews, Barbie takes the lead again, amassing $22.3 million, making it the best preview performance of the entire year in 2023. Oppenheimer's previews collected $10.5 million in comparison.
As the weekend unfolds, Barbie's success at the box office continues to dominate headlines, proving its strong appeal to audiences.
