Lahore: Hailey College, Punjab University, took a significant step towards fostering entrepreneurship and innovation by launching its new MS Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program. The program aims to cultivate a new generation of entrepreneurs who will contribute to job creation in the country, encouraging students from diverse fields, including Arts and Social Sciences, to explore their potential as job creators rather than job seekers.
The Principal of Hailey College of Commerce, Prof. Dr. Hafiz Zafar Ahmed, highlighted the college's commitment to modern education, mentioning that it currently offers four BS programs and has been conducting PhD classes since 2013. With a history spanning over a century, Hailey College stands as an esteemed institution that has produced a multitude of graduates serving both in Pakistan and abroad.
During a meeting with Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Kashif Anwar, Prof. Dr. Hafiz Zafar Ahmed expressed his delight at the establishment of the Chamber's Chair in Hailey College and expressed his desire for further collaboration. He emphasized the importance of industry-academia linkages in addressing Pakistan's economic challenges effectively.
President Kashif Anwar underscored the significance of a strong industry-academia relationship, emphasizing that countries that foster effective linkages between industry and academia have experienced improved productivity and technological advancements. To leverage these linkages, he suggested that colleges and universities should function as business incubation centers, empowering the youth to directly contribute to the country's economic growth.
In pursuit of this collaboration, Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, together with Hailey College, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate seminars and workshops. Additionally, an Executive Committee Member will hold the Chamber's Chair in Hailey College every 15 days, further strengthening the ties between the two institutions.
With a collective vision to create a Charter of Economy representing the position of all political parties, Hailey College and Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry are determined to foster a conducive environment for entrepreneurship and innovation in Pakistan. The initiative aspires to empower students to become key drivers of economic growth and development in the nation.
