Contempt of ECP case adjourned till August 02
The Member Election Commission remarked that PTI chief has to be indicted today.
Islamabad: A four-member bench of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Tuesday heard the contempt of ECP case against Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
According to details, former prime minister’s lawyer Shoaib Shaheen appear before the court on behalf of his client and sought respite from the court.
The Member Election Commission remarked that PTI chief has to be indicted today.
Responding to which lawyer Shoaib appealed the Election Commission that he has appeared for the first time today and has no record of the case.
Member Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remarked that it is your responsibility to provide the file and records.
Election Commission accepted the request of Chairman PTI's lawyer. It has directed PTI chairman to ensure his attendance in the next hearing to file indictment and adjourned the hearing of the case August 2.
Notably, the case of former cricketer threatening the Chief Election Commissioner and members on media and using insulting words against them is under hearing in ECP.
Election Commission had ordered Tehreek-e-Insaf chairperson to appear in person today.
Earlier, the commission had ordered the Islamabad Police to arrest him and produce him at 10:00am on Tuesday for non-appearance in the case yesterday.
The police went to his residence to comply with the arrest warrant of Election Commission which was received by PTI chief’s lawyer. Today he appeared in person before the Election Commission.
