Countrywide processions to observe Muharram 09

Lahore: A series of processions are underway across the country in mourning the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (R.A), grandson of Prophet Hazrat (PBUH) and his martyred companions on Muharram 09 today (Friday).

According to details, there will be processions of Shabiya-Ulm and Zul-Jinah in cities across the country, including Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta, in which lamentation and mourning will be observed for the atrocities of the Yazidi army on the Prophet's family.

In memory of Ahl al-Bayt who faced hunger and thirst for three days in Karbala, water and juice stalls have been installed in the streets, while free food will be distributed across the country.

Main procession of Islamabad

The main procession of Muharram 09 in Islamabad will start from Imam Bargah Asna Ashri J-6, which will end at the same place following its traditional routes.

According to the police, 1685 personnel and officers will be deployed for the security of the main procession, in which five District Police Officers (DPOs), 14 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and 21 inspectors will perform their duties while Rangers and Frontier Constabulary (FC) will also be deployed for the security of the procession.

Main procession of Karachi

The main procession in Karachi will start from Nishtar Park, which will pass through its traditional routes and end at Hussainiya Iraniyan Imam Bargah, Kharadar.

Additional Inspector General (IG) Karachi Javed Alam Odhu visited various Imambargahs of the city where he reviewed the security arrangements.

Karachi Police Chief said: “According to the security plan, foolproof security should be ensured, no negligence in providing security to the public will be tolerated”.

Main Procession of Peshawar

In Peshawar, the main procession of 9th of Muharram in the memory of martyrs of Karbala Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and his martyred companions will be taken out from Imam Bargah Hussainiya Hall today from Sadr Road. While it has been decided to shut down mobile phone service in 14 districts of the province including Peshawar city.

Main procession of Lahore

The main procession of 9th of Muharram in Lahore has left from Pandu Street, Islampura, which will reach Imam Bargah Khema Sadat in the evening through traditional routes.

In connection with Muharram, there are strict security arrangements in the city and double riding of motorcycles is also banned.
