Khursheed stated that three months after the National Assembly has been dissolved, general elections will be held in the nation. He was speaking to the media in Karachi.
In relation to the creation of a caretaker administration, Khursheed Shah disclosed that five candidates, including politicians, had been shortlisted for the post of caretaker prime minister.

The senior leadership meetings of the PPP and PML-N could result in agreement on Ishaq Dar's nomination, and a meeting of both parties' advisory committees is soon to be scheduled.
A committee led by former prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani and included of federal ministers Khurshid Shah and Naveed Qamar has been constituted by the PPP to offer advice on the caretaker government issue.
