Chennai: Asian Hockey Champions Trophy kicks off today with an exciting clash between Pakistan and Malaysia.
The tournament, taking place in India, will witness six teams competing, including defending champions South Korea.
However, in a setback for the national hockey team, Head Coach Shahbaz Sheikh was unable to travel with the team due to visa issues.
Former captain Mohammad Saqlain will step in to fulfill the responsibilities of the head coach during the tournament.
The federation has informed the team management about Saqlain's appointment, and the services of a local physiotherapist have also been acquired.
This opening match promises an intense battle between Pakistan and Malaysia as they vie for a winning start in the prestigious tournament.
