Beijing: The development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the friendship between China and Pakistan will not be sabotaged, a spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry said on Monday.

Wang Wenbin made the statement during his regular press briefing, which resumed here at the International Press Center (IPC) following the summer break. "China will continue to work with the Pakistani side to jointly guard against and counter the threats of terrorism and earnestly protect the safety of Chinese personnel, institutions, and projects in Pakistan," Wang said.
"Any attempt to sabotage the friendship between China and Pakistan and the development of CPEC will not succeed," he added.
He described the incident in detail, claiming that on August 13, roadside bombs and gunfire were used to attack a group of Chinese engineers.
“No Chinese nationals were hurt or killed”, says Wang.
He stated that the Chinese Embassy and Consulate in Pakistan have started emergency response efforts right away and reminded Chinese nationals, businesses, and institutions working on projects in Pakistan to be on the lookout for security threats, take precautions to increase security, and keep themselves safe.
The spokesperson declared that China will keep cooperating with Pakistan to sincerely safeguard the security of Chinese individuals, institutions, and projects in Pakistan as well as to jointly battle the risks posed by terrorists.
