Imad Wasim optimistic about upcoming cricket engagements

Lahore:  Renowned all-rounder Imad Wasim expressed his delight over the recently unveiled One Day International (ODI) squad for the forthcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, as well as the anticipated Asia Cup 2023.

Imad shared his thoughts on the prospect of being part of the World Cup squad set to compete in India. His response underscored his unwavering commitment and enthusiasm to take on challenges head-on. He expressed these words in an exclusive interview with a popular YouTube channel on Wednesday.

Imad emphasized the significance of approaching any potential inclusion with clear vision, lauding the pivotal roles played by seasoned mentors such as Mickey Arthur and Inzamam-ul-Haq in guiding and motivating players.

Imad conveyed, "If the opportunity arises, and there's a genuine call, it shouldn't come abruptly just a couple of days before the World Cup. Clarity is crucial, and individuals like Mickey Arthur and Inzamam-ul-Haq provide that clarity. Representing Pakistan in the World Cup is an incredible honor. While I haven't retired from ODI cricket, I'm eagerly open to the possibility and would be ready to step up."

In the immediate future, Imad will be donning the colors of Jamaica Tallawahs in the upcoming edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). His focus remains resolute on the imminent tasks at hand. Imad expressed a heartfelt desire to witness Pakistan's triumphant journey in the forthcoming Asia Cup, World Cup, and the series against Afghanistan.

“My primary aspiration is to witness Pakistan securing victories in the Asia Cup, World Cup, and the Afghanistan series. I am genuinely pleased with the squad that has been selected, and I am eagerly anticipating their performances. In the realm of ODIs, Pakistan boasts a formidable team and, in my view, they hold the position of favorites both in the Asia Cup and the World Cup,” Imad concluded on a positive note.

It is notable that the seasoned 34-year-old all-rounder's last appearance in an ODI cricket match dates back to 2020 when he played against Zimbabwe in Rawalpindi.
