Pakistan head coach identifies key area for improvement

Lahore: Grant Bradburn, the head coach of Pakistan's cricket team, has highlighted a crucial aspect that demands enhancement within the squad. While acknowledging the team's solid line-up, Bradburn emphasized the necessity for significant improvement in the middle overs, where the team has faced recent challenges.

Bradburn underscored the importance of an aggressive playing style, especially during the middle over phase of the game. He was speaking to the reporters kin Lahore on Wednesday.

"Observing the way the team played during the Test series in Sri Lanka and their current performance here, it is evident that they are committed to an aggressive playing style and utilizing their skills effectively. Both Mickey and I emphasize this approach, and we anticipate the team exhibiting this mindset when they take the field in Hambantota next week," Bradburn added.

Bradburn said, “ Our starting XI and batting approach are well-defined. We have a clear strategy for approaching the game and particularly the middle overs. However, we acknowledge that Pakistan's performance during the middle overs has not been as successful as desired. We are dedicated to developing skills that enable us to aggressively tackle this critical phase of the game, not only with the bat but also with the ball and our field placements. Our goal is to secure wickets, accumulate runs, and maintain a strong presence until the 40th over with a solid wicket count while batting," Bradburn elaborated.

Furthermore, Bradburn revealed that Mickey Arthur, the director of the national team, also encourages players to employ their skill sets strategically to secure victories.

Pakistan is gearing up for a challenging cricket calendar, with a three-match One Day International (ODI) series against Afghanistan scheduled to commence on August 22nd in Sri Lanka. Subsequently, the team will set their sights on the highly anticipated Asia Cup, slated to begin on August 30th, jointly hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
