Pakistan Army successfully retrieves trapped British and Polish mountaineers in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Gilgit: Pakistan Army successfully rescued a team of foreign mountaineers stranded at the Concordia and Sugar Peaks in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Yesterday, along with a local guide, a team of one Polish and four British mountaineers found themselves stuck at Concordia and Sugar Peaks.
The British climbers were stranded amidst the snow-clad mountain range of Concordia, while the Polish climber was trapped at the 17,000-foot high Sugar Peak, alongside a local guide.
The British mountaineers included George Hurst, David Cooper, Stephen Ryan, and Daren Corby, while the Polish climber Adam was accompanied by local guide Muhammad Iqbal.
All mountaineers were rescued in a daring operation using army aviation helicopters.
The climbers were in critical condition and were promptly provided with medical assistance during the rescue operation.
