According to Instagram, the sticker will be available only in “English and English-speaking countries” for now but will eventually roll out to other languages and countries.

It will also start testing automated captions in Reels soon, added Instagram.

These caption stickers will allow users to watch and understand video without sound further it will be helpful for people with hearing impairments as well as for users who want to watch videos without sound.

Instagram further said that it is also possible to edit “individual words in the captions to correct spelling, punctuation, or any words that weren’t transcribed accurately.”

The user will also be able to change the style, caption and position and colour of the text to suit their video, after which the caption will appear with the video.

The caption sticker from Instagram will first be tested in stories and reels and then introduced to the general public.

The feature has been presented since TikTok introduced a similar feature called auto-captions.

The feature is titled “auto-captions” and upon being turned on, viewers will automatically get the speech of the video transcribed so that if any user has difficulty in listening, he or she can read the subtitles.

Instagram had previously provided caption support in Threads and IGTV, but the company expects the expansion of Story and Reel to have more impact.

Currently, more than 500 million users use Instagram Stories daily.
