Battagram: School teachers and students have been stranded thousands feet high for several hours as the chair lift rope broke in Alai area of Battagram.
According to details, Commissioner Hazara has asked the caretaker government for a helicopter to rescue people.
Two ropes of a chair lift carrying children and school teachers broke early in the morning today (Tuesday) in Alai near Battagram in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, due to which the lift got stuck, teachers and eight children are in the lift which is tilted to one side thousands feet high.
Spokesman of rescue 1122 Bilal Faizi while talking private news channel said that it takes two and a half hours to reach the chairlift location, rescue teams are on the way, trying to reach there as soon as possible.
He added that the first priority is to evacuate people safely. Two ropes of the chairlift have broken, the chairlift is at a height of 2000 feet.
The spokesperson told that Rescue teams have already done such rescue operations.
On the other hand, the army helicopter has reached to help the people trapped in the chairlift, but the rescue work has not been started yet.
According to the report, the Pakistan Army rescue helicopter has reached Battagram and is conducting a reconnaissance of the area.
Deputy Surpitendent of Police (DSP) said that there is no other option except airlift, due to lack of mobile signal, we are facing difficulties.
Commissioner Hazara Amir Sultan Tareen stated the helicopter has reached the spot, is assessing the situation, due to the air pressure, the helicopter is not flying close, all the people in the cable car are safe so far.
