Islamabad: The special court established under the Official Secrets Act has extended the physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cypher case for another three days.

According to details, Judge Abul Al-Hasanat of Special Court heard the cypher case against PTI Vice Chairman in a closed room in which Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) produced Shah Mahmood in the court.

Senior advocate of PTI Shoaib Shaheen appeared in the court on behalf of Shah while FIA Special Prosecutor Shah Khawar appeared in the court.

The special prosecutor in his arguments said: “PTI chairman Imran Khan waved cypher in the rally,” while Shoaib Shaheen told the court that there could be several copies of the cypher.

During the hearing, Mehmood told the court that as Foreign Minister, he sent the cypher to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and did not steal the cypher.

During the hearing, the special prosecutor of FIA requested Shah Mehmood Qureshi's physical remand for another nine days, which was opposed by Shoaib Shaheen.

After listening to the arguments of parties, the court reserved its decision on which was extended after some time.

The court sent Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the custody of FIA on physical remand for 03 days, after which FIA left with PTI leader.

It is pertinent to note that earlier the court handed over Shah Mehmood Qureshi to FIA on four-day physical remand, after which his physical remand period has now been extended to 07 days.
