Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise, Lahore Qalandars (LQ) in an attempt to extend their support to women cricketers has launched women player development program (PDP).

The women player development program has been launched in collaboration with the government of Pakistan but will be extended to all the provinces.
Owned by Atif Rana, the Lahore Qalandars has been acknowledged for working for the betterment of cricket in Pakistan by launching several development programs across the country.
Keeping this tradition alive, the PSL franchise has launched PDP that will recruit women cricketers from six major cities and followed by a tournament among the selected players.
Further, the finalized players will have a chance to train in Qalandars HPC and tour for Australia for further training.
In the last month, special assistant to Punjab Chief Minister, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan visited Lahore Qalandars High-Performance Center. She lauded the LQ Chairman Atif Rana for providing one of the best platforms to the youngsters who want to excel in cricket.
During her visit, she showed a keen interest in the promotion of women cricket in Pakistan and insisted on the fact that there is a dire need to start a women player development program as it will help our girls to excel in the sport.
“I also assure the Qalandars, of government’s all-out support in this regard,” added Dr Firdous Ahiq Awan.
Punjab Cricket Board (PCB) established its women’s wing in 2005. Since then, the game of cricket among women has flourished with leaps and bounds.
