Lahore: Pakistan regained its position at the pinnacle of the ICC One Day International (ODI) rankings following a commanding clean sweep against Afghanistan in Colombo on the preceding Saturday.

Before the commencement of the series, Pakistan held the second spot with a rating of 116, trailing merely by two ratings behind Australia.

Yet, with an impressive 3-0 triumph, Pakistan elevated itself to the zenith of the rankings with a rating of 118, surging ahead of Australia in terms of points.

However, the final and fifth match against New Zealand slipped from their grasp, allowing Australia to reclaim the coveted leading position.

In the upcoming trajectory, Pakistan is poised to participate in the 2023 Asia Cup. The inauguration of their journey in the six-team tournament is scheduled against Nepal in Multan on August 30th.
