Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is likely to approve another hike in electricity tariff by Rs2.07 per unit in terms of July’s fuel charge adjustment (FCA) on Tuesday.
In order to pressure the government for relief, protests are being held across Pakistan in opposition to the excessive electricity prices, but it seems that the government has other priorities.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) was requested by the power providers to increase the electricity cost for the July fuel charge adjustment (FCA) by Rs2.07 per unit.
The petitions will be heard by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on August 30 (today). According to the argument, the percentage of power produced in July by thermal resources was 37.18%, 14.68% by coal, 1.98% by furnace oil, and 1967% by liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Moreover, a total of 14.388 billion units of electricity were produced locally at a rate of 7.61% using nuclear fuel at a 14.29% rate. The manufacturing cost per unit was Rs. 8.96, while the reference cost per unit was Rs. 6.89.
