Karachi: The spokesperson of Ministry of Health said that polio virus has been confirmed in the environmental samples of Peshawar and Karachi.
According to the spokesperson of Health Ministry, the virus is genetically similar to the virus found in Afghanistan.
Caretaker Federal Health Minister Nadeem Jan stated that detection of polio virus in environmental samples is alarming. The presence of virus shows that children are at constant risk of this disease.
Nadeem Jan added: “All positive environmental samples will be investigated to identify affected populations”.
The federal health minister continued to say that immediate and effective measures are being taken to strengthen children's immunity. Parents should give their children polio drops several times.
