IESCO identifies 217 electricity thieves
Many officers and officials of IESCO were also suspended for electricity theft.
Islamabad: Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) conducted operations against electricity thieves in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal and arrested 217 electricity thieves so far.
According to details, fines of more than Rs19.6 million have also been imposed on electricity thieves.
Apart from this, many officers and officials of IESCO were also suspended for electricity theft and illegal installation of meters.
On the other hand, Secretary Power Rashid Langriyal said regarding electricity theft that 80 million units of electricity theft has been detected.
While releasing the data on social networking website X (Twitter), Rashid Langriyal said 194 people involved in electricity theft have been arrested.
