The seat of Interior Secretary was vacant due to the death of acting interior secretary Abdullah Khan Sumbal.


Islamabad: The government has appointed Dr. Aftab Akbar Durrani, a BS-22 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service as Federal Secretary Interior Division with immediate effect on Monday.
According to a notification issued by the Federal Establishment Division on Monday, Dr Aftab Durrani, presently posted as Secretary of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Division has been transferred and posted as Federal Interior Secretary until further orders.
The seat of Interior Secretary was vacant due to the death of acting interior secretary Abdullah Khan Sumbal.
Earlier¸ the Federal Interior Secretary Abdullah Khan Sumbal passed away in Lahore today [Wednesday] after battling illness.
Abdullah Sumbal, who had been ailing for some time, had taken charge as the interior secretary on August 20.
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Secretary Ministry of Interior Abdullah Khan Sumbal.
