WhatsApp to end support in older Android phones
Mostly, Android phones currently run Android 5.0 or later versions.

California: WhatsApp, one of the world's most popular messaging apps, is gearing up to discontinue support for several older Android phones starting in late October.
If users have one of these devices, it's time to consider an upgrade if he/she wants to continue using WhatsApp.
After October 24, 2023, WhatsApp will only be available on Android phones running Android 5.0 or later operating versions.
This significant change was announced through WhatsApp's FAQ page.
Until this date, WhatsApp can still be used on Android phones running Android 4.1 or later operating systems.
However, once October 24 arrives, the messaging app will no longer support Android operating systems earlier than 5.0.
WhatsApp follows a practice of notifying users in advance when support for a specific operating system is set to end.
Users are typically encouraged to upgrade their devices to ensure they can continue using the platform.
WhatsApp continuously improves its user interface, enhances privacy settings, and introduces features aligned with the latest Apple and Android operating systems.
On iPhones, for instance, WhatsApp requires devices to have iOS 12 or later.
While the majority of Android phones currently run Android 5.0 or later versions, there are still some older devices using outdated operating systems.
