Solangi assures impartial treatment to all political parties during election campaigns

The caretaker federal minister for information and broadcasting says all the political parties should enjoy complete liberty to contest elections and the state media should desist from supporting or opposing any of them.

Solangi assures impartial treatment to all political parties during election campaigns

Karachi: Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi on Sunday instructed the state media to give judicious coverage to all the registered political parties as the provision of an enabling environment for transparent polls was the responsibility of the interim government.  

He was addressing a ceremony during his visit to the Pakistan Broadcasting House, Karachi on Sunday.

The Minister said all the political parties should enjoy complete liberty to contest elections and the state media should desist from supporting or opposing any of them.

Talking about efforts to enhance performance of Radio Pakistan as per the needs of the modern era, Murtaza Solangi said the government is trying to cater to the broadcasting needs of the public through digital technology and soon the Digital Radio Mondiale will be introduced in the country.

Murtaza Solangi said the board of directors of various organizations, including Radio Pakistan, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting would be reconstituted with a representation from provinces.

He recalled that annual budget of the state broadcaster had been increased from 1.2 billion to 3.4 billion rupees during his tenure as the Director General of Radio Pakistan. He assured that further improvement will be brought in the working of the organization this time as well.

The Minister expressed the determination to transform Radio Pakistan into a modern broadcasting network in cooperation with professionals of the organization to cater to the needs of modern day broadcasting. He also assured to resolve the problems of Radio Pakistan's employees.

Earlier upon arrival, he was warmly welcomed by the station director and other staff of the PBC Karachi.
