Import of mobile phones increases by 76% in a month
According to the Bureau of Statistics, mobile phones worth Rs32.71 billion were imported in August 2023.
Karachi: Imports of mobile phones in Pakistan have been increased by 76% last month due to relaxation of restrictions on imports by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
Earlier in August last year, phones worth 13.92 billion rupees were imported. However after an increase of 76% in imports, now phones worth 32.71 billion have been imported.
According to the Bureau of Statistics, mobile phones worth Rs32.71 billion were imported in August 2023, while mobile phones worth 19.14 billion were imported in July.
In August 2023, $11.13 million were spent on the import of mobile phones and in July 2023, over 68.1 million dollars were spent on mobile phones.
Mobile phones worth Rs136.84 billion were imported last financial year.
