No pressure to play in India: Babar Azam
The players are determined to do their best in the World Cup 2023: Babar Azam.
Lahore: National cricket team captain, Babar Azam, addressed the media in Lahore today, discussing the team's preparations and mindset before heading to India for the upcoming World Cup.
Babar expressed confidence in the team's unity and emphasized the importance of avoiding past mistakes, particularly from the Asia Cup.
"We are fully prepared for the event, and we are determined to perform well and win the World Cup," Babar Azam stated.
Reflecting on their previous performance in the Asia Cup, where they suffered some losses, Babar acknowledged that no athlete is ever 100% fit, but they continue to learn and adapt.
He also mentioned that they plan their team strategy and order before each match.
Babar Azam stressed that there is no undue pressure on the team to play in India, and their focus is primarily on improving their fielding and taking wickets during the middle overs.
He expressed his faith in his fellow players, stating, "I am not worried about my own performance. I have more confidence in my teammates than myself."
Regarding the inclusion of Hasan Ali in the squad, Babar Azam explained that it was a joint decision and highlighted the potential of Naseem Shah to make a significant impact.
He praised the partnership of Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah, stating that it had proven beneficial in previous matches.
Babar Azam concluded his press conference by expressing the team's focus on each match and their determination to win.
He also expressed hope that Indian cricket fans would support their efforts in the World Cup.
