During this ongoing campaign, more than 62,000 electricity meters of different tariffs have been checked so far.


Islamabad: Following the direction of Ministry of Energy, the crackdown against electricity thieves is underway due to which 336 First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered as yet.
According to the statement of the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) spokesperson, the operation teams have full support from the police and the district administration.
During this ongoing campaign, more than 62,000 electricity meters of different tariffs have been checked so far.
According to the spokesman, 1082 consumers were charged over 1.5 million units on the basis of electricity theft slow and tempered meters. Fines of more than 72.1 million were imposed, 336 FIRs were registered while 28 electricity thieves were arrested by the police for the crime of stealing electricity.
The spokesman said that operations will continue until the thieves are eliminated from the IESCO region. He directed people to report electricity theft on 03195991304 or helpline number 118.
