Quetta: The Chaman fault line, a seismic hotspot in South Asia, is on high alert as experts predict the potential occurrence of a significant earthquake within the next 84 hours.

This warning comes as the Solar System Geometry Survey (SSGS) issues a dire forecast.

According to the Seismological Research Institute, ominous underground activity has been detected along the Chaman fault line, situated in Pakistan's Balochistan province.

The institute suggests a strong likelihood of an earthquake measuring 6 or higher on the Richter scale striking the region in the coming two days.

The SSGS points to a significant fluctuation of electric charge in the atmosphere near sea level as a contributing factor behind the impending seismic event.

The forecasted quake zone encompasses several regions, including Balochistan, marked in purple on the map.

It's important to note that these highlighted areas on the map are approximate estimations, and predicting the exact location of an earthquake remains a challenge.

The Seismological Research Institute has identified the Chaman fault line as one of the most earthquake-prone regions in the world.

The Chaman fault line stretches for approximately 900 kilometers, encompassing parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

This geological fault line has a notorious history, as it was the epicenter of a devastating earthquake on May 31, 1935, which struck Quetta and claimed the lives of thousands.

As experts closely monitor the seismic activity along the Chaman fault line, residents and authorities in the region are urged to remain vigilant and prepared for any potential seismic events in the coming days.
