Islam is the reason for discipline in Pakistani team: Matthew Hayden

Former Australian opening batsman Matthew Hayden, who previously served as a mentor for the Pakistan cricket team, has attributed the team's discipline, both on and off the field, to the influence of Islam.

Hayden made these remarks while providing commentary during a World Cup warm-up match between Pakistan and Australia in Hyderabad Deccan.

He highlighted the team's strong emphasis on the Islamic faith, stating that this dedication contributes significantly to their discipline, which he admires.

According to Hayden, discipline is a crucial factor in cricket.

The former Australian cricketer also emphasized the importance of determination and consistency in cricket, values that are in alignment with Islamic teachings and cultural representation.

Pakistan recently played their second warm-up match against Australia, falling short by 14 runs in their attempt to chase down a target of 352 runs.

The official start of the ICC World Cup is scheduled for October 5, with defending champions England facing New Zealand in the opening match.

Pakistan's first match in the tournament is against the Netherlands on October 6.
