Govt urges social distancing as Pakistan celebrates Eidul Fitr with religious zeal
Eid-ul-Fitr is being observed across the country today with religious zeal and fervor, while government has urged people to follow social distancing in view of third wave of coronavirus.

Eid congregations were held at open places, mosques and Eidgahs in all major cities and towns while following strict SOPs of social distancing and adherence to COVID-19 precautionary measures.
Earlier yesterday, the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee announced the sighting of moon for the month of Shawwal. The announcement was made around 11:30pm after the committee's meeting in Islamabad that lasted more than four hours.
The meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee committee was held in Deputy Commissioner Complex Islamabad headed by Central Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir.
The committee was attended by Officials from the meteorological department, Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The committee received testimonies of moon sighting from across the country, including Peshawar, Qila Saifullah and Pasni.
