During the 17th match of the ICC World Cup, in which Bangladesh's captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and chose to field first, the incident occurred in the ninth over.
Pandya attempted to block a shot from Bangladeshi opener Liton Das with a straight leg, but the move left him in considerable pain.
As a result, the physiotherapist was summoned to the field to assess Pandya's condition, and he subsequently left the pitch.
Virat Kohli took over to complete the last three balls of Pandya's over.
