Due to the presence of polio virus in the environmental samples, it has been decided to conduct a special anti-polio campaign in Karachi, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Anti-polio campaign in Karachi

Caretaker Health Minister Sindh Dr. Saad Khalid Niaz issued a statement that polio campaign is being started in Karachi from today (October 30) till November 05.

He said that the decision to restart the campaign has been taken after the recent polio case reported in Karachi.

Dr. Saad Khalid added that currently polio virus is present only in Afghanistan and Pakistan, joint efforts should be made for polio-free Pakistan.

Anti-polio campaign in Balochistan

According to the Emergency Operation Center (EOC) Balochistan, it has been decided to conduct a special campaign due to the presence of polio virus in the environmental samples of Balochistan.

A special anti-polio drive is being launched today in 10 districts of Balochistan, including Awaran, Dera Bugti, Gwadar, Austa Muhammad, Hub, Jafarabad, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Naseerabad and Sahabpur.

According to the EOC officials, a target of 780,000 children has been set for polio vaccination in these districts.

Special polio campaign has been postponed in Quetta, Pashin, Qila Abdullah and Chaman. The date of anti-polio campaign in these four districts of Balochistan will be announced later.

Anti-polio campaign in KP

A special anti-Polio campaign begins in three districts of KP is being started today.

According to EOC Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, during the five-day campaign more than 1.2 million children up to five years of age will be administered anti-polio vaccine drops.
