Srinagar: The vaccination process in Indian Illegally-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) has come to a halt due to the severe shortage of Covid-19 jabs.
According to Indian local media, there is an acute shortage of vaccines in almost every health care facility across Kashmir due to which the authorities have failed to administer any dose for the fourth consecutive day.
On Sunday, not a single vaccine was administered in the Kashmir division and people kept waiting outside vaccination centers.
The health authorities revealed that they have administered over 2.8 million doses so far including security forces and police.
"We received the last supply of vaccines last Saturday. There are no vaccines available," a source within health division told Indian media.
Another source said that the vaccines for the 18-45 age group have not arrived in sufficient quantity and due to which the vaccination drive is suffering immensely.
The latest data from National Health Mission data has revealed that 93% of those who succumbed to the virus in past month in Occupied Kashmir, had not received their vaccination, while the remaining 7% were partially vaccinated.
The novel coronavirus is spreading rapidly across Occupied Jammu and Kashmir with health experts fearing rise in cases and deaths.
