LHC seeks report on Chaudhary Parvez Elahi’s plea seeking entitled facilities in jail
The court has directed the Punjab home secretary and the superintendent of Adiala jail to submit report within a week time.

Rawalpindi: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench sought a detailed progress report within one week from the Home Secretary of Punjab and the Superintendent of Adiala Jail on a plea moved by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) seeking directives for the authorities to provide him entitled facilities in the jail.
Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan of the LHC passed the order and directed the officials concerned to come up with the reply within a week time.
Chaudhary Parvez Elahi filed the plea through his counsel Advocate Sardar Abdul Razzaq Khan and alleged mistreatment and denial of basic amenities to him during his incarceration at Adiala Jail.
The counsel argued that given his political and social standing, the former Chief Minister is entitled to better class facilities within the prison. Instead, he claimed that Parvez Elahi is facing mistreatment behind bars.
During the proceedings, Sardar Abdul Razzaq Khan brought to light instances of purported illegal interference during family and lawyer meetings. He emphasized that lawyers are not allowed to carry pens, and exchanging notes in writing is prohibited. Additionally, conversations are allegedly being recorded without consent.
Furthermore, Khan asserted that Pervez Elahi, being a heart patient, has been advised by doctors to adhere to a specific diet. However, he alleged that permission for home-cooked meals is being denied, resulting in frequent instances of food poisoning and stomach issues due to the jail's food.
Highlighting the lack of provisions for essential healthcare, Khan pointed out the absence of facilities for physiotherapy to address Pervez Elahi's reported back pain. A report presented in court indicated that the matter has been brought to the attention of the Home Secretary of Punjab, with ongoing consideration.
