Harmful compunds found in cough syrup

Lahore: Harmful ingredients have been revealed in the cough syrup manufactured by the pharmaceutical company of Lahore.
According to details, the Maldivian government and World Health Organization (WHO) have issued an alert on the cough syrup manufactured by a Lahore-based company.
The cough syrup of the Lahore-based company has been found to contain harmful compounds called diethylene glycol and ethylene glycol.
Drug Regulatory Authority (DRAP) has also taken action directing to withdraw various batches of cough syrup from the market.
The syrup of this company has been exported to four countries including Maldives and Fiji while this syrup has also been supplied to Pakistan.
It should be noted that earlier many children have died due to the same concentration present in Indian cough syrup.
