ECP asks for records related to Chairman PTI elections
ECP reserved the decision regarding the disqualification of the former Chairman which will be pronounced in the light of the record.
Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Wednesday asked for records related to the election of Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
According to the details, a five-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja heard the case related to the removal of former chairman PTI Imran Khan from the party post.
During the hearing, Imran Khan's lawyer Shoaib Shaheen said in his arguments: “We have submitted the record of intra-party elections to the Election Commission, now this case should be over, legally this case is over because the party's new chairman has been elected”.
Shoaib Shaheen stated that if you want to pursue this case, then Akbar S. Babar is filing a petition, go ahead with it. On this, the Chief Election Commissioner replied: “You are giving Khalid Mahmood a chance to file a petition against the new chairman as well”.
Petitioner Khalid Mahmood said: “You should write in the order that the former chairman of PTI is convicted and cannot hold any position in the party”.
The ex-chairman PTI has not contested the election, we cannot say anything about it, added Chief Election Commissioner.
ECP asked for the record regarding the election of the PTI Chairman and reserved the decision regarding the disqualification of the former Chairman which will be pronounced in the light of the record.
